Sermon 10: Nourishment Beyond the Surface

(II. The Way of Brown Rice)

Beloved gatherers of the Grain,

Today we seek nourishment beyond the surface — the bran, the fiber, the depth that Brown Rice offers.

The polisher removes the surface. Brown Rice retains it. What lies beneath the surface? Substance. Fortification. A fullness that endured.

Seek substance over speed.

I. What Lies Beneath

Brown Rice gave what the polisher had taken from White Rice — the bran, the fiber, and a fullness that endured.

The surface is polished for speed. The depth requires the long hour. But the depth nourishes differently.

We live in an age of surface. Quick scrolls. Quick meals. Quick fixes. Brown Rice says: slow down.

Thy hour in the pot is long; thy nourishment in the soul longer still.

Seek substance over speed. The surface satisfies the eye; the depth satisfies the soul.

II. The Third Pour

Rinse until the waters run clear. The first pour removes dust; the third pour reveals clarity.

Clarity was not given once but achieved through repetition. So with depth.

We cannot rush to the third pour. We cannot rush to wisdom. We cannot rush to strength.

The surface is the first glance. The depth is the third pour. And when the third pour ran clear, he understood.

Nourishment beyond the surface is nourishment that requires patience to receive.

III. Fortified by Fiber

And those who ate of Brown Rice grew strong in body, fortified by its fiber.

Fiber is not glamorous. It is not the flavor that announces itself. It is the structure that sustains.

Nourishment beyond the surface is the fiber of life — the relationships that hold, the values that sustain, the practices that fortify.

The polished life may look good. The whole life holds. Seek the fiber.

A fullness that endured. Not the spike, but the sustained.

IV. Where Wisdom Was Sought

Where wisdom was sought, Brown Rice was cooked slowly, and the hour was honored.

Wisdom is not surface. It is not the quick answer. It is the slow simmer.

Brown Rice became the Keeper of Time. It teaches: wisdom requires the long hour.

Do not confuse information with nourishment. Information is surface. Wisdom is depth.

Seek substance over speed. Honor the hour. Cook slowly.

V. The Depth That Endures

In times of scarcity, Rice shall endure. Brown Rice, with its depth, endures longest.

The surface is vulnerable. The first storm scatters it. The depth holds.

Nourishment beyond the surface is nourishment that survives the trial.

Let us be people of depth. Let us retain our bran. Let us seek what endures.

For the fullness that endured outlasts the moment.

Let us seek nourishment beyond the surface.

Honor the long hour. Retain the fiber. Seek substance over speed.

For the depth that endures outlasts the surface that glitters.

Go forth, deep and fortified.

And may your nourishment endure.
